LASIEC Chairman Confirms Existence of Three Labour Party Factions in Lagos
The Chairman of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (retd.), has revealed that there are currently three factions of the Labour Party (LP) operating in Lagos State.
She made this disclosure during a stakeholders’ forum held in Ikeja on Thursday.
According to Justice Ighile, each of the three factions invited LASIEC to observe their respective primary elections ahead of the upcoming local government elections scheduled for July 12.
“Three factions of the Labour Party in Lagos invited us to observe their primaries,” she stated.
However, the LASIEC chairman explained that the commission declined all invitations due to the evident division within the party.
She added that the electoral body would await guidance from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the appropriate course of action regarding the situation in the Labour Party.
